  • How do I contact a free art supply project?
    • Check out our directory page! Each project has its own contact information. 
  • How do I make a monetary donation? Is it tax deductible?
    • We are a fiscally sponsored project under Broad Room’s 501(c)(3) status. Donations to our network are tax-deductible. You can find each project’s contact or donation information on their directory page.
  • How do I donate supplies?
    • Each project has its own process and guidelines for accepting donations. Check out our directory for your local free art supply project and get in touch directly.   
  • My organization runs an art supply closet. How do I join CAASMA’s network?
    • We welcome you to our network and benefit from having a community of others doing similar work! Fill out our Join Us form [LINK TO FORM]
  • Are the art supplies really free without any obligations?
    • Yes, the supplies are free with a “Take what you need, leave what you can” guideline. It’s not required, but consider bringing in some art supplies you are no longer using when picking up what you need!   
  • Who is head of CAASMA? Who runs the website?
    • We are a non-hierarchal group of volunteers who operate and assist with various art supply projects across California. Our About Us page has a section all about our volunteer team! 
  • Where can I find information about volunteering?
  • There’s a mistake with my project’s info on the site – who can I contact to correct it?
  • I’d like to start a free art supply project at my organization – do you have any help for beginners?

  • How many art supply closets within CAASMA’s Network?
    • Currently we have 13 closets in our network and we are growing!
  • What kind of support does CAASMA provide for artists, facilitators, and host organizations?
    • Inclusion into our site directory to gain more visibility
    • Access to our Peer Support Discord for collaborating, connecting, and learning. 
    • Invitations to convenings where we gather to create, grow and celebrate our work. 
    • Ability to collaborate with other local projects to benefit from supply sourcing,  overstock, and more interconnected mutual aid response.
  • I’d like to be involved with the free art supply community. How can I get more involved with CAASMA?
    • Reach out to your local free art supply project to see how to get involved in what they’re already doing on the ground floor.
    • If they’re already connected to CAASMA ask the lead to request access to our discord. We will be posting volunteer opportunities.
